Position Summary

With a high degree of independence, this Senior Regulatory Specialist position provides regulatory support to the successful commercialization of all personal care product categories, with emphasis on general consumer products in North America.


Accountabilities

  • Leads regulatory project support for new product development and commercialization projects.

  • Responsible for the delivery of multiple complex projects, as well as regulatory pathways or strategies to obtain product approval

  • Represent Regulatory to Core Team Meetings as assigned.

  • Assure that new and current products meet all relevant regulatory requirements in the U.S and Canada.

  • Review product specifications to ensure that all current regulatory requirements are captured.

  • Develop labeling guidance

  • Give input to testing plans according to state and federal requirements.

  • Assess and makes priority judgments and risk assessments, identifies solutions and presents course of action.

  • Monitor changes in standards and regulations and prepare impact analysis and recommendations.



  • Author Standard Operating Procedures for routine Regulatory activities and work processes.



  • Collaborate with Marketing, Program Management, Operations, R&D and other cross-functional team members to meet required deadlines.


Specific Accountabilities

  • May also perform additional duties as assigned:
    provide support to the international Regulatory team and/or the Product Safety group.


Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in analytical chemistry or mechanical engineering and 5-7 years of related experience.

  • Knowledge of consumer product regulations for U.S. and Canada (children's products is preferred).

  • Knowledge of standards governing consumer product safety (CPSC, ASTM).

  • Good understanding of US FDA indirect food additive requirements.

  • Experience reviewing labeling for consumer products.

  • Ability to review and interpret test reports.



  • Great computer skills. Proficiency with Word, Excel, Access/databases e-mail and internet applications.

  • Excellent verbal / written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to interface with internal and external contacts at all levels.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Good record-keeping skills.

  • Excellent organizational, prioritization and follow-up skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks / projects simultaneously.

  • Self-directed with ability to think and act independently and to make sound decisions.

  • Demonstrated ability to complete projects on time.

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.


Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Regulatory Affairs or Product Safety experience.

  • Knowledge of U.S. CPSC and Health Canada requirements for children's product.

  • Experience working in a testing laboratory.

  • Knowledge of U.S. and Canada regulations governing Cosmetic, OTC drug and/or Medical Device products.

  • Experience with relational databases, data validation, and report/query set up is a plus.


Working Relationships & Environment

  • Reports to Manager, Regulatory Affairs - North America. Key relationships internally will include Marketing, Product Safety, Quality and R&D. External engagement will include health agencies, suppliers, third-party consultants, labs and industry associations.

  • 0-15% Travel Requirements.

  • Could be located in Allendale, NJ or Shelton, CT

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
